Look of the Day for 6/21: Early fireworks show
The hits just keep on coming with our Look of the Day series, as we cashed our +145 MLB prop on Thursday to win our seventh bet in a row. MLB has been red hot, so we’re sticking with baseball for our favorite bet on Friday’s slate.
Look of the Day: Arizona Diamondbacks @ Philadelphia Phillies — both teams to score 2+ runs in the first five innings (+100 DraftKings)
The Diamondbacks will take on the Phillies Friday night in the first game of a three-game set, and we’re expecting some early fireworks between these two.
Let’s start with the pitchers, who have both struggled in 2024. Phillies starter Taijuan Walker has a 5.33 ERA, a .354 xwOBA and a 13.8 percent barrel rate this season, and he’s surrendered at least two earned runs in eight of his nine starts. As for D-backs starter Jordan Montgomery, the left-hander has a 6.00 ERA, a .374 xwOBA and a .309 opponent batting average. He’s given up at least two earned runs in nine of his last 10 starts, and the only game he didn’t was against the putrid Chicago White Sox.
Both lineups are also on fire over the last two weeks. The Diamondbacks are batting .289 with a .801 OPS and a 131 wRC+ against righties over the last 14 days. Meanwhile, the Phillies are batting .289 with a .887 OPS and a 151 wRC+ against lefties in the same span.
As if that isn’t enough, the weather in Philadelphia looks ideal for hitters. It’s going to be 93 degrees at Citizens Bank Park with the wind projected to blow straight out to center field, which will help fly balls carry more than usual.
