Right now, the Washington Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league, but over the course of the past few seasons, they’ve had some great players pass through their roster.

Obviously, there are the Bradley Beals, John Walls, and even Russell Westbrooks of the world, but Kristaps Porzingis also had a solid stint in Washington.

Though he was only with the Wizards for a year and a half, he had one of the best full seasons of his career and bounced back after a very rough stint with the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas is set to take on the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, Porzingis’ new team, and there has been a ton of discourse about the big man squaring off against his former squad. More specifically, people have spoken about his relationship with Luka Doncic.

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons, who played for the Mavericks, spoke about the relationship Porzingis and Doncic have, noting that “there is actual beef there.”

But Doncic disagrees. He vehemently denied those claims, roasting Parsons in the process.

“I’ve talked to Chandler Parsons maybe twice in my life. I don’t know how he would know that. Me and KP have a good relationship. I don’t know why people say otherwise.”

When the Mavericks initially traded for Porzingis, they did so in hopes of forming a dynamic duo. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out, and the team eventually moved on from Porzingis. That’s how he got to Washington.

After some time with the Wizards, Porzingis got traded to the Celtics during the 2023 offseason, and now, he and Doncic will be playing each other on the NBA’s biggest stage in the Finals.

When they were teammates, it was clear that something wasn’t working. The on-the-court fit made a ton of sense in theory, but it just never panned out, whether it be because of injuries or otherwise.

Away from the court, it was clear that things weren’t perfect, but it’s been over two years since Porzingis and Doncic were teammates. And based on Doncic’s take on the situation, they’re in a good place now.

So, while Parsons may have wanted to give some context regarding the situation, all he ended up accomplishing was giving Doncic a good laugh. It seems as though everything is cool between Doncic and Porzingis.
