The 2023-24 NBA regular season ended with a bang for the New York Knicks, as they defeated the Chicago Bulls in an overtime match and grabbed the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

That was a massive accomplishment for the team, but was it the right move?

Sam Amick pointed to the opinion of one unnamed NBA executive who told The Athletic that the Knicks should have lost their final game so they wouldn’t have claimed the second-best ranking in the East.

“Do you really want to face a fully healthy Philly team?” the executive asked.

To be fair, the Knicks weren’t sure who the seventh seed would be at the time.

The Play-In Tournament hadn’t been played yet so it could have been the 76ers or the Heat.

Also, the Knicks are not in the habit of throwing games, no matter how it may or may not help them in the playoffs.

They just want to win as much as possible and they have been earning a lot of victories lately because of that mindset.

Finally, there are many questions about how healthy the 76ers currently are.

Although Joel Embiid is back, he might not be 100% healed from the injury that has been nagging him.

Therefore, things might be easier for the Knicks in the opening round.

Regardless of what happens, this season has been a resounding success for the Knicks.

They are the second seed for the first time in years and have a roster that all fans are very proud of and excited by.

Numerous people think they might have a shot at taking down the Boston Celtics if they continue to play as they have been.

They have great chemistry and are very committed to winning, which is why the Knicks claimed the second seed days ago.
