NBA Reports: NBA Teams were Informed that the Warriors have Agreed to Trade one(1) Superstar
NBA Teams Believe Warriors Are Open To Trading 1 Veteran
It’s clear that their championship core cannot carry the weight on it’s own anymore, and with Steve Kerr seemingly reluctant to give Jonathan Kuminga a bigger role in the offense, they might have to find answers somewhere else.
With that in mind, other NBA teams believe the Warriors are open to trading Andrew Wiggins, according to a report by Angelina Martin of NBC Sports:
“When I talk to other teams more and more, I’m hearing that there’s an anticipation now that the Warriors will be open to trading Andrew Wiggins because Wiggins and [Jonathan] Kuminga, when they’ve played together, the Warriors would be the first to tell you it hasn’t gone well,” NBA insider Marc Stein said on Monday’s episode of the “#thisleague UNCUT” podcast.
Wiggins was an instrumental part of the Warriors’ last championship, but he’s struggled to find his footing ever since winning that ring.
He went from playing elite defense and providing great hustle on the offensive glass and efficient scoring to struggling to knock down shots from all three levels.
Wiggins missed most of last season attending undisclosed personal matters, and he hasn’t been the same player ever since.
He even lost his starting job to rookie Brandin Podziemski earlier in the campaign, which is another reason why other teams might feel like he can be had now.
The Warriors were high on Wiggins and even got him to sign a contract extension, which could make any trade difficult to pull off.
Even so, his two-way expertise could be of help to some contenders, especially now that he’s proven that he can play within his role, embrace it, and doesn’t need to have the rock in his hands or be a focal point of the offense.
