JUST IN: A New Update on the Trade of Pascal Siakam to the Warriors Has Surfaced

New Update on Pascal Siakam to Warriors Trade Revealed

It is said that the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors discussed this transaction.

It has become increasingly clear that the Toronto Raptors are looking to trade star forward Pascal

Siakam before this year’s deadline. Set to become a free agent this summer, Siakam could walk away

from Toronto in free agency, leaving them with nothing in return for the two-time All-Star. Looking to

avoid this outcome, Toronto is expected to find a trade partner.

The Golden State Warriors have been floated as an obvious suitor for Siakam, given their collection of

assets and desire to maximize the final years of Steph Curry’s superstardom, but there hadn’t been much

reporting on the possibility of a deal until recently. Speaking on the Warriors Plus Minus podcast, The

Athletic’s Anthony Slater revealed that the Warriors have indeed talked to the Raptors about Siakam.

“On the Siakam front, [the Warriors] have been involved in the conversation – they’ve talked to Toronto,”

Slater said. “Not only have they talked to Toronto, Masai Ujiri and Mike Dunleavy probably had a 20

minute conversation in the tunnel the other night… I saw [Ujiri] talk to several members of the Warriors

front office at various points. Whatever that means, that means. But I do know the Siakam thing, clearly

– Toronto has a level of motivation to get something done before the deadline. It seems clear.”

This is one of the more concrete updates there has been on any Siakam to the Warriors trade, as Slater

was able to confirm that Golden State and Toronto have been involved in talks about a possible deal.

Latest NBA Trade Rumors Point to Pascal Siakam’s Value Potentially Taking a Hit

As we slowly creep closer to the NBA trade deadline, the intrigue surrounding one of the most talked-about names may have just taken a turn. Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam has been mentioned in numerous trade rumors dating back to last year, and the latest update signals an unwillingness to sign a contract extension with a new team.

Siakam prefers to play out the remainder of the season with the Raptors, and he wants ultimate control over where he plays next if that’s not in Toronto, per Marc Stein’s The Stein Line.

Beyond controlling where he signs next, Siakam is also likely hesitant to sign an instant-extension with a new team because it would push him further away from securing a large, lengthy contract. While Siakam can sign a four-year extension with the Raptors, or whatever contract he likes with a team in free agency in the coming offseason, he would only be able to get a two-year extension from whichever team he landed with if he was traded at this point in the year.
