Should Newcastle miss out on Europe this summer, a £40 million player…..
One of Newcastle United’s star players could be looking for a way out this summer if the club are out of Europe’s top competition.
Newcastle’s form has been struggling of late which has seen the drop all the way down to 10th in the Premier League, six places lower than where they finished last year.
A new report from GiveMeSport now claims that this could be a problem for Bruno Guimaraes who wants to play in Europe every season and is attracting interest from top clubs.
Newcastle could lose star man this summer
The most notable clubs to show significant interest in the Brazilian international are PSG and Barcelona, two European giants who will both be able to offer him Champions League football next year.
The French champions look the most likely at the minute considering Barcelona’s financial issues, but the Spanish side certainly are not out of the running for his signature.
Newcastle will be doing absolutely everything they can to keep their star £40m signing at the club, but ultimately there will be little they can do to persuade him to stay should his dream of winning in Europe outweigh his love for the club.
Losing Bruno would certainly be a massive blow for Newcastle, though the one and only positive they could take from it is the £100m release clause he is rumoured to have which would help them to overhaul the squad in the summer.
Newcastle to make a huge push for Champions League next year
It was always within the owners plans to qualify for the Champions League in the first five years of owning Newcastle, though they managed to achieve that in less than two.
However, that has since raised expectations at least a little and they would love nothing more than to establish themselves as one of England’s top clubs once again.
It’s looking pretty much impossible for them to qualify this year now given the gap in points, and that’s why the summer recruitment is absolutely key both on and off the pitch with the club also still looking for a Dan Ashworth replacement.
But losing Bruno would feel like one big step backwards despite all the money it would bring in, as they are going to have to spend a large portion of that just trying to replace him.
