Just-in: Nottingham Forest do not want to sell a 22-year-old youngster with a ‘very high ceiling

Nottingham Forest have taken a stance on Neco Williams amid interest from Leeds United.

That is according to The Athletic, which has reported what Forest’s plans regarding Williams in the January transfer window.

So, what has been reported about Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Neco Williams? Let’s take a look.

Nottingham Forest stance on Leeds United target Neco Williams

Well, according to The Athletic, Leeds United are interested in signing Neco Williams from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

The report has claimed that Leeds are on the hunt for a new full-back, and Williams is one of the players on the radar of the Championship club.

Forest, though, do not want to make a deal. The report has noted that the Reds are “reluctant to sanction” an exit for the 22-year-old Wales international full-back.

My View: Nottingham Forest should not offload Neco Williams

In my opinion, Nottingham Forest should not send Neco Williams out on loan to Leeds United or sell the former Liverpool full-back in the January transfer window.

Although the 22-year-old has not played regularly for Forest this season, he is one of the best young players around and has huge potential.

Then Forest manager Steve Cooper has previously described Williams as a player who has “got an incredibly high ceiling” and “is a very talented right back”.

Williams has made four starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest this season. He has given one assist in those games.

The 22-year-old Wales international full-back made 20 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest last season. He scored one goal in those games.

Forest are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, and I believe that manager Nuno needs to keep players such as Williams in his squad.
