Albion were far from their fluent best but showed character to eek out a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest so soon after their 4-0 Europa League humiliation at Roma.

The loss in the Italian capital was a painful one to take for head coach Roberto De Zerbi and the Seagulls and arrived swiftly after the 3-0 Premier League defeat at Fulham and their exit from the FA Cup at Wolves.

But the Seagulls, cheered on by their home fans, took a significant step forward as the three points took them to seventh in the table and back in the mix to qualify for Europe once more.

The decisive goal arrived on 29 minutes as Andrew Omobamidele headed into his own net after a wicked inswinging freekick from Pascal Gross created confusion.

What Murillo posted after defeat for Forest at Brighton

Well, it’s becoming increasingly concerning for Forest and with just one win in eight matches, relegation looks to be pretty much on the cards.

Although the Reds aren’t in the bottom three of the division just yet, they could be by the time they face Luton on Saturday.

The Hatters play Bournemouth on Wednesday night, whilst Forest could face the music over a points deduction this week.

Murillo was once again in the Forest starting eleven yesterday and in fairness, he didn’t play too badly.

An own goal from Andrew Omobamidele consigned Forest to another defeat and the Reds are in desperate need of some points.

After the game, Murillo took to Instagram, posting ‘Everything will be fine’, followed by a prayer emoji and a praise the lord emoji.

Murillo needs a settled partner next to him

Absolutely nothing against Omobamidele but with Forest needing to defend set pieces better, Willy Boly is surely due a game.

He’s not featured since winning the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast and he will be desperate to get back on the pitch.

Murillo has been a mainstay in the team since making his debut in October and ultimately the 21-year-old is quality.

That notion might be a little premature – but he does look destined for bigger things when the time does come to leave Forest.
