Ohio State Great Maurice Clarett Hints Mike Vrabel Should Replace Ryan Day at Alma Mater

The Tennessee Titans shocked the NFL world Tuesday when they announced the firing of coach Mike Vrabel and, in an instant, made him the hottest commodity on the coaching market. It didn’t take long for fans across the country to call for Vrabel to save their franchises—even in the college football world.

Former Ohio State great Maurice Clarett took to X, formerly Twitter, and hinted that his alma mater should fire Ryan Day next year and hire Vrabel to take his place.

“Chill for 12 months big dog or don’t sign a long term agreement with anyone… You’re already rich so you don’t need the bread,” he said. “Go hang out with the family. Columbus would be on fire if you returned.”

Clarett, who won a national championship with the Buckeyes in 2003, hasn’t been shy with his criticism for Day. He ripped the team after its lost to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl in December, adding, “I wonder if any coaches entered the transfer portal.”

Vrabel was a two-time All-American linebacker with Ohio State during his playing days and got his first coaching job with the Buckeyes back in 2011. He was the team’s linebackers coach and then the defensive line coach before transitioning to the NFL.

At the helm for the Titans, he has a 54–45 career record.

Ohio State 5-Star WR Noah Rogers Enters Transfer Portal

The Ohio State Buckeyes are heading into the offseason with an oddly sour taste in the mouth, and more players are showing that they don’t want to stick around to contribute toward washing it out.

Per reports from On3 on Sunday night, Ohio State freshman receiver Noah Rogers has entered the transfer portal ahead of the New Year. Rogers was a five-star recruit out of Raleigh, N.C. in the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class, per On3’s rankings.

He didn’t register an offensive stat this season, as the Buckeyes receiving room was stacked with talented players like Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, Julian Fleming and others.

With the addition of incoming 2024 signees at receiver like five-stars Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham, it’s possible Rogers would be facing a similar pinch on the depth chart next season.

After Friday’s 14-3 loss to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl, the Buckeyes will now look toward what should be an interesting offseason.
