Kristaps Porzingis Has Surprising Message After Celtics’ Loss To Hawks
The Boston Celtics held an enormous 30-point lead over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night but they still ended up losing, which was a shocking, disappointing, and rare misstep for the league’s best team.
Following the defeat, Kristaps Porzingis was asked by NBC Sports Boston what the team could learn from the surprising loss.
Porzingis didn’t seem too worried and said that the Celtics can make sure not to overreact moving forward.
He admitted that the team definitely slipped up and made mistakes but he doesn’t want them to panic, although he does think they should play with a greater sense of urgency.
Surprisingly, Porzingis suggested that he welcomed this loss with just weeks to go before the postseason.
Perhaps that is because he knows it could serve as a wake-up call for the Celtics and get them in fighting shape for the playoffs.
He said that Boston hasn’t faced a loss like this all season and there is truth to that.
They have been dominant from the very beginning of 2023-24 and have defeated numerous tough opponents.
Porzingis said the Celtics expect to win every game so Monday’s defeat was definitely a shock.
The good news for Boston is that they have a chance to get their revenge since the Hawks are their next opponent too.
Additionally, they still hold the best record in the league and will most certainly enter the postseason as the top team in the East.
They don’t need to panic or overreact but the Celtics would be wise to study Monday night’s game and figure out where things went so wrong.
The last thing they want is to experience another loss like this in the midst of the upcoming playoffs.
He acknowledged that the club undoubtedly erred and made mistakes, but he doesn’t want them to freak out. Instead, he believes they ought to play with more urgency.
