Anytime that a modern-day NBA player is mentioned in the same sentence as Wilt Chamberlain, it’s a rather remarkable accomplishment. The significance of Joel Embiid becoming just the 2nd player to score more points than minutes played in a single season cannot be overstated.
On the season, Embiid averaged 34.7 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, and 5.6 assists per game.

Sixers fans are anxious to get to the NBA Postseason with a healthy Joel Embiid in the lineup. Finishing the regular season with an 8-game win streak, the Sixers have now learned their fate for the postseason. Though, it came down to the final day of the regular season, it is now confirmed that the Sixers will be a part of the NBA Play-In Tournament. The Eastern Conference’s 7/8 matchup will feature the Philadelphia 76ers playing host to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night at 7 PM ET. The winner of the matchup will earn the 7-seed and an opening-round series with the 2nd-seeded New York Knicks. The loser will face the winner of the Eastern Conference’s 9/10 matchup, the Chicago Bulls or Atlanta Hawks. The winner of that matchup will earn the 8-seed and an opening-round series with the top-seeded Boston Celtics.
Reason For Optimism
The hope that many Sixers fans are clinging to is that they have gotten healthy, and found a groove at the right time. Riding an 8-game win streak into the postseason should bode well for the team from a confidence standpoint. Joel Embiid is back in the lineup, Tyrese Maxey is healthy, and the gritty Miami Heat stand in the way of the Sixers and a first-round matchup with the Knicks.
