Breaking news: Regarding Zach Ertz, the Lions have made a decision for Sunday’s match
The Detroit Lions have given their fans real hope of a Super Bowl appearance as the team is in the NFC Championship Game.
The Lions will hit the road for the first time during the 2023 NFL season to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Detroit and San Francisco are somewhat similar teams as they boast explosive offenses with strong defensive lines that can get after the quarterback.
However, the Lions have real momentum on their side after impressive victories over the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
San Francisco is an entirely different level of team than Detroit has faced up to this point, but the young roster has proven they are unfazed about any sort of obstacles.
Ahead of the matchup, it appears that the Lions will not have Zach Ertz active via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“The #Lions are not activating Zach Ertz off the practice squad for Sunday’s NFC title game, per source. Ertz worked hard all week to get ready but team will hold him out,” Fowler reported.
Ertz signed on with Detroit in hopes of contributing to a Super Bowl contender, but it appears the veteran tight end will have to sit out the game.
His signing was viewed as a positive because rookie Sam LaPorta has been dealing with a knee injury that he suffered in Week 18 of the 2023 NFL season.
However, LaPorta has been able to suit up every week thanks to a bulky knee brace and hasn’t looked too limited.
While Ertz will have to cheer on from the sidelines, he and the Lions should still feel confident about their chances of winning.
