Saga: Former Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas slams Simone Biles comparisons and says she’s tired of ‘constantly being…’
Former Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas gave the American gymnastics throne to Simone Biles long ago.
Yet, Douglas recently slammed the comparison to Biles and said she is tired of ‘constantly being bullied’ online because of those likening the duo.
Douglas shot to superstardom as part of the 2012 American Olympic gymnastics team, winning the individual all-around gold medal.
Biles has won two of the three individual all-around golds since and is considered the greatest gymnast of all-time.

Former Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas says she’s tired of ‘constantly being bullied’ online
Simone Biles is viewed as the greatest gymnast of all-time and was inspired by Douglas
‘That’s ok! Constantly being bullied is very tiring and wearing on me. I just want to live my life and be at peace. Thanks for the love! Definitely needed in this world,’ Douglas said in a comment on the video.
Douglas has been supportive of Biles’ rise, but clearly has had enough of this specific element of her legacy.
Biles and Douglas competed together for the United States at the 2016 Olympics. The two are barely a year apart in age.
The duo also represent half of the individual all-around gold medals over the last six Olympics, where an American has won the event dating back to 2004.
Either Douglas or Biles has been on every Team USA gymnastics squad since 2012, with a possibility that continues to the 2028 games, as Biles has not declared her future intentions.
Biles told Vogue how inspired she was by Douglas, who won the all-around in London when Biles was 15.
‘Growing up, I didn’t see very many Black gymnasts,’ Biles said. ‘So whenever I did, I felt really inspired to go out there and want to be as good as them. I remember watching Gabby Douglas win the 2012 Olympics, and I was like, “If she can do it, I can do it.”‘
