The Seahawks’ good fortune continues with a perfect schedule

The Seattle Seahawks feel like they have been at a crossroads several times this season.

In some weeks, the Seahawks have been able to overcome adversity, win against good teams, and then make themselves look like obvious playoff contenders in a strange NFC. In other weeks, Seattle loses in dramatic fashion, and that creates questions about what they can actually do this postseason.

The good news for Seattle is the worst of their schedule is over and they still sit at 7-7 and within striking distance of a playoff spot. Their final three games against some of the worst teams in the NFL should help that endeavor.

The only thing standing between the Seahawks and a very likely spot in the playoffs is a three-game stretch against the Titans, Steelers, and the Cardinals.

There probably hasn’t been an easier stretch for Seattle in several years.

All three of these teams have massive issues in their franchises from coaching to quarterback play, and none should have the legs to keep up with what the Seahawks can do on both sides of the ball.

In truth, this is a perfect “gift” for the NFL to give Seattle. Sure, this year has been far from perfect, but it was never about winning a Super Bowl this year. However, making the playoffs is a pretty good place to start as far as expectations are concerned, and that (and then some) is on the table.

Winning three games (where the Seahawks should be large favorites) should be pretty straightforward and would be the perfect way to get some momentum heading into the first round of the playoffs.

Christmas may come early for the Seahawks. The just need to start their three-game run with a win against the Titans.

Seahawks’ breakout star may miss Titans game due to personal obligations

The Seattle Seahawks are riding high after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 on Monday Night Football. With starter Jamal Adams (knee) out, Julian Love stepped up big time.

Love, who signed a two-year, $12 million contract with Seattle this offseason, had two interceptions, including one that saved the season against Eagles receiver A.J. Brown. For his outstanding effort, the NFL named Love the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Love was asked after the game if his two-pick game was the highlight of his week. Love declined because he and his wife, Julia Love, were expecting a son on December 20. “Yeah, hopefully, a healthy baby boy comes this week,” he told reporters. “Throughout this crazy football stretch, my wife has done an outstanding job.” Hopefully, the next time you hear from me, I’ll be holding a newborn.”

But Wednesday has passed, and Love’s child has failed to arrive. On Friday, December 22, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that Love will not be flying with the team to Nashville. If the baby does not arrive by Sunday, he will miss Seattle’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

“As far as we know, we do not yet have a child.” So we don’t know anything about Julian,” Carroll told reporters, according to The News Tribune. “However, Julian will not be accompanying the squad. Otherwise, he will travel (when he is able).Carroll stated that Love will do “whatever he has to do.” “He has to take care of his wife and baby.'”

Carroll, along with the 12s, wishes nothing but the best for Love and his wife. If Love is unable to make it to Tennessee, the Seahawks will look toward Coby Bryant to start.

With a 7-7 record, the Seahawks’ margin for error is gone if they want to make it to the postseason. With Love making such a huge impact on the field, the 25-year-old was predicted to become a regular starter.

Thus far this season, Love has appeared in all 14 games and made nine starts. He’s recorded 99 total tackles, nine passes defensed, four interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Carroll was effusive over Love’s talent after defeating the Eagles.

“Love’s game, tagging onto what he did last week, this week incredible game, incredible plays,” Carroll told reporters. “The last catch is exquisite on the sidelines. Toes tapping, hanging onto the football, winning the game… That’s four turnovers he’s been involved in in the last two weeks. Holy cow.”

In his Weekly Mailbag Column, Seahawks writer John Boyle highlighted Love’s lack of playing time. The quarterback “deserves to be on the field as much as possible going forward, regardless of other circumstances,” he added.

“There are a couple ways the Seahawks may do this, including playing more three-safety looks or giving Adams more snaps off to try to keep him healthy down the stretch as he recovers from last year’s damaged quadriceps tendon. I’m not sure how that will play out in the coming weeks, but based on how he’s been performing, I believe Love will be on the field a lot for the defense going ahead.”

Adams is suffering with a chronic knee injury after signing a four-year, $70.5 million contract with Seattle in 2021. The All-Pro safety was labeled as “questionable” against the Eagles, but he was formally declared as inactive 90 minutes before kickoff.

When it became evident that Adams was not even at Lumen Field for the key game, questions emerged. “I think he was home,” Carroll remarked on Seattle Sports radio on December 19.

While Carroll has already stated that Adams will not be playing in Week 16, he also informed reporters on Friday that he would not be traveling with the team. Adams might be suspended for the rest of the season, but Carroll acknowledged that decision has yet to be made.
