Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford react to the Rams’ 28-20 Week 15 triumph against the Commanders

Following the team’s on Sunday at SoFi Stadium, Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford each held postgame press conferences with the media, discussing the performances of Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, running back Kyron Williams, and other key offensive performers, how the fourth quarter unfolded, and more.

Here are some of the important insights and highlights from those discussions:

tafford, Williams, and Kupp all had excellent games on Sunday, but late defensive lapses contributed to 13 fourth-quarter points by Washington, keeping the game tight.

As McVay pointed out, the Rams have a limited amount of time to make those adjustments before facing the Saints on Thursday night.

McVay seemed unfazed by Williams’ two fumbles, and that confidence was clear in the opportunities Williams received on Sunday.

Williams finished the game with 27 carries for 152 yards and one touchdown.

Stafford connecting with a wide-open Kupp on a 62-yard touchdown ball down the Commanders’ sideline was one of the day’s highlights.

Kupp finished with 8 catches for 111 yards and 1 touchdown, marking his 31st career regular-season game with 100 yards or more.

Stafford has passed for 1,250 yards and 13 touchdowns against only two interceptions while completing 64 percent of his throws.

In Sunday’s triumph over the Commanders, he was 25 of 33 for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

NFL Locals: Cooper Kupp’s resurgence helps Rams keep pace in wildcard chase

Kupp (Eastern Washington) surpassed 100 yards receiving and scored a touchdown for the second straight game, leading the Los Angeles Rams to a 28-20 victory over the visiting Washington Commanders at SoFi Stadium.

On the second play of the third quarter, Kupp broke wide open for a 62-yard touchdown, giving the Rams a 20-0 lead.

Washington surged late, but it was unable to overcome the gap.

Kupp has eight receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown. He has 18 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns in the last two weeks after spending six games without going over 100 yards.

The Rams are one of three teams tied for the final two NFC wildcard slots, all of which are 7-7.

One of those clubs, the New Orleans Saints, will pay a visit to Los Angeles on Thursday.

During an NFC South matchup between Carolina’s Frankie Luvu (Washington State) and Atlanta’s Kaden Elliss (Idaho), rainy circumstances gave the defenders an advantage.

The Panthers won 9-7 over the visiting Falcons, turning a red-zone interception into a walk-off field goal.

Luvu led the squad with 10 tackles, while Elliss had five (one sack).

The Falcons’ chances were harmed by the Panthers (2-12), the first team eliminated from playoff contention.

Atlanta (6-8) dropped out of a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South.

The Falcons go to Indianapolis the next week.

The Colts, led by Gardner Minshew (WSU) and Samson Ebukam (EWU), defeated Pittsburgh on Saturday and are now tied for first place in the AFC South.

With Miami’s leading wide receiver Tyreek Hill on the sideline, River Cracraft (WSU) saw no gain in productivity.

Cracraft did not see any action in the Dolphins’ 30-0 thrashing of the visiting New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium.

Braxton Berrios (one catch, 12 yards) and Chase Claypool (two catches, eight yards) saw action, but Jaylen Waddle was the primary target. Waddle had eight receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.

The Dolphins (10-4) are on the verge of winning their first AFC East title since 2008, but their remaining schedule includes games against the Cowboys, Ravens, and Bills.

Jalen Thompson (WSU) made a team-high six tackles for Arizona, but the Cardinals defense couldn’t get off the field in the second half of a 45-29 loss to the visiting San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers (11-3) won the NFC West for the second year in a row.

Jaylen Watson (WSU) got two tackles and a sack for the Kansas City Chiefs in their 27-17 victory over the host New England Patriots.

Watson’s sack was the Chiefs’ (9-5) second of the season.
