The Memphis Grizzlies aimed to complete a season sweep of the Phoenix Suns as they hosted them for their final regular-season matchup. Memphis had already secured a 3-0 lead in the season series, with all previous games being tightly contested. This final clash proved no different, featuring intense competition and heated moments.
Once again, the Suns failed to capitalize on a stellar performance by Kevin Durant. The two-time Finals MVP exploded for 14 points in the first quarter, helping Phoenix jump out to an early eight-point lead. However, the Grizzlies fought back, taking control for the remainder of the game and securing their third consecutive victory.

The night wasn’t without controversy, as tensions boiled over following a three-pointer from Grizzlies guard Cam Spencer over Durant. The two exchanged words, prompting Desmond Bane to rush in to back up his teammate, escalating the on-court altercation.
Despite the competitive fire, Durant had high praise for the Grizzlies’ tough, relentless play after the game.
“I mean, they got a lot of underdogs,” the 15-time All-Star said. “Guys that have grinded their way up, kind of overachieved and made the league making rotations. So they play with a chip on their shoulder, and I respect that.
Durant also acknowledged Spencer’s energy and commended the Grizzlies’ mentality.
“That’s how Cam Spencer got on the court when he was coming up—just being aggressive and showing that they care,” Durant said. “So when you come to Memphis, you got to match their energy if you want to stay in the game. And that’s a type of image I love to display for the game.”
With the loss, the Suns (30-35) slide further away from playoff contention, now sitting 11th in the Western Conference with just 17 games left. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies improve to 41-24, solidifying their hold on the fourth seed as they continue their push toward the postseason.
