Shocking Blockbuster: Yankees’ $630.9 million Star confirms to spurn New York in favor of Blue Jays, as he seeks to….See Details

The New York Yankees are right in the middle of a bidding war to re-sign superstar Juan Soto, but one MLB insider doesn’t like their chances.Though the Yankees are considered the favorites to land the 26-year-old phenom after his stellar season in The Bronx, there is some heavy competition from a handful of teams vying for his services.

The New York Mets are thought to be the Yankees’ biggest competitors with Steve Cohen’s deep pockets and willingness to spend.

However, Bob Nightengale of USA Today predicts the Yankees will get outbid by their division-mates in the Toronto Blue Jays.

“The Blue Jays still have $700 million burning a hole in their wallet, and after Yankees refuse to budge from their original offer, the Blue Jays swoop in and get their man for $630 million over 14 years,” Nightengale wrote.

The Blue Jays have been linked as potential suitors in the Soto sweepstakes so this idea shouldn’t be completely dismissed out of hand.

With that said, the Blue Jays would likely have to offer much more than the Yankees for Soto to truly consider joining Toronto.

The Blue Jays have a solid core of talent with Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but it would be a pretty big shock if Soto wound up there unless Toronto simply outbids the rest of the field by an egregious amount.

Still, with this coming from an MLB insider, the Blue Jays are a team to watch in the race for Soto.

Yankees’ manager still unsure of his long-term future with the teamMLB: World Series-Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Yankees

Aaron Boone’s future with the New York Yankees is up in the air after their loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series.

Yankees and Aaron Boone are stalled on extension talks

MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reported on Monday morning that Boone and the Yankees have not discussed where he stands with the franchise as they look to bounce back from their Fall Classic defeat and win it all next year:

“Aaron Boone said that there are no extension talks between him and the Yankees at the moment. The team picked up his 2025 option late last week,” Hoch posted on X.

Boone has enjoyed great success with the Yankees despite not winning a World Series

The 51-year-old manager has led the Yankees to three American League Championship Series’ since taking their helm in 2018. He’s been instrumental in New York establishing themselves as one of the premier teams in the AL. Nevertheless, their inability to capture a World Series crown, even with their monumental acquisition of AL MVP candidate Juan Soto last offseason, has caused questions to arise over whether he can lead them to a World Series victory or not.

The Yankees picked up his option for the 2025 campaign. Therefore, the California native won’t need to worry about being ousted from the franchise this winter. Nevertheless, Boone’s long-term future remains tenuous. Should both parties fail to come to terms on a multi-year extension, he could be put on the hot seat at any point next year, depending on the Yankees’ success or lack thereof in the win column.
