Shocking: Huge twist for Brisbane Broncos footy star who was investigated by police over domestic violence allegation

  • Broncos NRL player cleared following police investigation
  • Was questioned after response to alleged domestic disturbance
  • Player wasn’t named, police confirmed ‘investigations are ongoing’

A Broncos NRL star under investigation for an alleged domestic violence incident has reportedly been cleared by Queensland police.

It follows a report one of the club’s players had been questioned after police responded to an alleged domestic disturbance on Brisbane’s south side on July 28.

The player – who has not been named – was not arrested or charged.

Police said investigations were ongoing at the time and it is understood they have since informed the player they will not pursue the alleged matter, according to News Corp.

In late July, the Broncos notified the NRL about the allegation, but no player was sidelined under the code’s No Fault Stand Down policy as they weren’t charged.

At the time, the Broncos said they were ‘co-operating with police and the NRL’.

‘We were made aware of a matter involving one of our players, which the club has referred to the NRL Integrity Unit,’ a club statement read.

‘The health and wellbeing of all parties is paramount for our club, and support has been offered to those involved.

‘At this stage, the club is not in a position to comment further.’

The Broncos are unlikely to finish in the NRL top eight after making the grand final last season.

Kevin Walters’ team sit in 10th spot, with remaining games against Parramatta, the Dolphins and Melbourne.

Mathematically they can still play finals footy, but they need a number of results to fall their way.

Brisbane Broncos vs Parramatta Eels Predictions

Plenty at stake with Brisbane chasing the finals places and Parramatta bidding to avoid the wooden spoon. The Eels might be struggling but they are backed with a 10.5 point start on the line.
  • Parramatta have won the last 3 matches against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.
  • Parramatta have covered the line in 4 of the past 5 matches.
  • 5 of the past 6 Parramatta games have gone under the game total.
  • Blaize Talagi has scored 7 tries in his past 9 appearances.

Head to Head

Brisbane have won the last three matches against the Parramatta Eels, including a 30-14 victory in round 10 this season.
Despite Brisbane’s recent dominance, the Eels hold a 7-5 advantage over Brisbane in the head to head record since 2019.

Brisbane Broncos Form

Brisbane are fresh off the bye and coming off a strong 42-18 victory over the Cowboys in Townsville in round 23.
The victory against the Cowboys gave Brisbane a little glimmer of hope that their season may continue into September if they can perform the way they did against North Queensland in their remaining three games and get some results going their way.
For the first time in a long time the Broncos showed their class, especially in the second half when they dominated the territory and broke the Cowboys line 5 times and also ran in five tries.
It was almost a bitter win for the Broncos which could very well be left with a big question of what could’ve been after round 27 is complete.

Parramatta Eels Form

Parramatta fell 24-0 behind by the 26th minute against the Roosters and were never a chance with Wiremu Greig (14th minute) and Brendan Hands (43rd minute) spending 10 minutes in the bin. The Eels eventually went down 38-14.
The Eels had their chances in an entertaining game, however, their attack looked stagnant near the Roosters line and as all season, there has not been enough creativity to break the opposition.
The loss was Prramatta’s ninth in their past 10 games and need at least one more win to avoid the Wooden Spoon this season with the Tigers getting the bye next week before the pair face off in the final round of the season.
