The Los Angeles Lakers recently engaged in an epic battle against the Golden State Warriors.
After a game that went into double overtime, the Lakers registered a 145-144 win over the Warriors.
While it was a sensational performance from the trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell, one Warriors player was frustrated with the officials after the loss.
In fact, after the game, Stephen Curry addressed the free throw disparity in the postgame conference via Warriors on NBCS.
“Tonight is just one of those where it’s just not consistent,” Curry said.
Stephen Curry didn’t say a lot, but he made his point clear about claiming that the referees’ whistle was highly inconsistent during the game.
To be fair, the Warriors shot 16 free throws during the game, while the Lakers went to the charity stripe 43 times.
The number may shock fans at first look, but when we take the Warriors’ three-point attempts into consideration, it makes a lot of sense.
The Warriors attempted 58 shots from outside the three-point line, while the Lakers had just 27 three-point attempts in the game.
Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that the Warriors faced a huge free-throw disparity.
Following the loss, the Warriors remain the 12th seed in the Western Conference, with a concerning 19-24 record this season.
On the other hand, the Lakers are now one game above the .500 mark with a 24-23 record.
