Spiteful: Celtics Guard Derrick White arm Injury Update

Disheartening: Celtics Unveils detail of Derrick White’s Injury Status

Celtics injury update: New arrivals Derrick White, Daniel Theis to sit vs. Denver Nuggets

Derrick White departed the Celtics’ game against the Magic on Friday afternoon due to an arm contusion sustained in a violent collision with Orlando player Paolo Banchero.

The play occurred with 2:15 remaining in the first quarter as White was defending Joe Ingles. White tried to navigate around a double screen and was hit by an uncalled illegal screen by Banchero who drove his shoulder into White. The Celtics guard hit the ground immediately and stayed down until Joe Mazzulla called timeout on the ensuing possession. White left the floor under his own power but headed back to the Boston locker room while favoring his arm. He was replaced by Payton Pritchard after Boston’s timeout but the team announced he would be probable to return in the second quarter.

The Celtics were already shorthanded for Friday’s game, with starting guard Jrue Holiday ruled out due to a sprained ankle suffered against the Bucks on Wednesday night. White had a strong start on Friday, scoring six points, dishing out two assists, and grabbing a rebound in his first 10 minutes, helping the Celtics take an early lead before suffering an arm injury.

Hot takes at halftime: It’s never too early for some Celtics basketball.

This afternoon, the Boston Celtics will try to secure a position in the In-Season Tournament quarterfinals. So far, they’re performing well and have built an eight-point lead against the Orlando Magic.

If Boston wins, regardless of the outcome of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, they will advance to the competition’s quarterfinals.

After about a two-week break, prepare for some halftime hot takes, buddy.

White jerseys should never be worn on the road

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. There’s absolutely no reason that the Celtics home jerseys should ever be worn away from TD Garden. It just doesn’t look right. I know it’s all been part of the Nike regime in the NBA, but I just can’t suffer in silence anymore.

You can’t tell me the Cs away greens wouldn’t do the trick today as a contrast to Orlando’s navy blue City Edition jerseys.
