Milwaukee’s left-handed pitcher, Robert Gasser, is set to have his first MLB pitching appearance on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Gasser, who will turn 25 on May 31, became part of the Brewers through a trade in 2022 that involved sending star closer Josh Hader to San Diego.
Although not officially added to the roster yet, Gasser was with the team on Thursday as they began their series with the Cardinals. He expressed excitement about the upcoming debut, especially with family and friends in attendance.
In the trade that brought Gasser to Milwaukee, he joined outfielder Eury Pérez and pitcher Dinelson Lamet. Pérez later moved to Oakland, while Lamet didn’t play a game with the Brewers.
Gasser’s start to this season was delayed due to bone chips in his elbow, but he has recovered well and feels prepared. After rehabbing, he had three starts with Triple-A Nashville, showing promising performance.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy expressed confidence in Gasser’s abilities, stating that they had anticipated his MLB debut, even before his injury setback.
