Steve Kerr Makes an Assertive Remark About Battling Stephen Curry

Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Makes an Assertive Statement About Struggling Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry has not shot the ball well in his last two games, but Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr isn’t worried.

After the Warriors lost to the Miami Heat last night, Kerr issued a strong statement on Curry.

“It wasn’t his night,” Kerr said about Curry. “This is all part of an 82-game season where guys are gonna have some tough nights, some tough stretches. I’m not worried about Steph, that’s for sure.”

Curry is averaging 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists over his last two games against the Denver Nuggets and Heat. He’s shooting just 27.8% from the field, 23.8% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line.

The Warriors are only 15-16 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings and don’t look like a playoff team right now.

Curry is averaging 27.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists on the season for the Warriors while shooting 45.8% overall, 41.0% from 3 and 93.0% from the foul line. Odds are the two-time MVP will snap out of his shooting slump sooner rather than later.

However, there’s no guarantee that the Warriors will get it together and go on a run. Curry is the only player on the team averaging at least 20.0 points per game. The Warriors are ninth in the NBA in scoring and 19th in defense. They have a net rating of +0.8, which is good for 15th in the league.

Most league observers believe the Warriors need to make a trade. Only time will tell if Golden State’s front office decides to shake up the roster.

Unexpected Warriors Player Accepts Responsibility for Loss to Miami Heat

The Golden State Warriors were absolutely embarrassed by a shorthanded Miami Heat team last night. One would expect Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, or Chris Paul to take the loss exceptionally hard, but it was someone else entirely – Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski. Podziemski spoke to the media after the Warriors’ loss to the Heat and essentially put the loss entirely on himself.

It was a surprising amount of onus for someone who’s only a 20-year-old rookie. “A lot of that falls on my plate,” Podziemski. “I’m the guy that’s supposed to bring energy and hustle plays and effort plays. I didn’t do that tonight. I can usually gauge that by how many steals, deflections, and rebounds I get.

Tonight, was probably my worst performance of the year in that case. I think it starts with me. Coach said it was his fault he didn’t get us prepared and whatnot, but I’m in that starting group for that reason. I just don’t think I brought that energy and effort tonight like I usually do.” Despite how hard Podziemski was on himself, he still had a solid game.

The rookie put up 10 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds on 44% percent shooting from the field. In all honesty, Steph Curry should be the one to shoulder most of the blame for his performance, but it’s amazing to see a rookie stand up and take the cause.

“I come in every game expecting to win, but like I said, we didn’t bring,” Podziemski said. “It’s my fault. I was very surprised just on our all-around performance collectively, both of offense and defense. Four of their best players were out tonight, and you knew other guys were going to come in and step up. It’s part of their culture and they did that.”

Thursday night was only one game for the Warriors. While it may have been a horrible loss, it’s still only one game. They’ll have a chance to make it right on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks.
