Following their 20–14 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday at Arrowhead Stadium, the Las Vegas Raiders were in the spirit of the holidays. Tre’von Moehrig, a safety for Las Vegas who made three tackles in the victory, posted a nasty remark on social media soon after the game.

Moehrig captured the moment as the Raiders entered a victorious locker room, saying, “Grinch stole Christmas mf.”

Moehrig wasn’t the sole Raiders player referencing the Grinch that day. Teammate Jack Jones, part of the secondary, channeled his inner Grinch while celebrating a pick-six touchdown. He mimicked handing the football to a young Chiefs fan before playfully pulling it back.

Maxx Crosby shared a live video showcasing the party within their locker room. The All-Pro defensive end went around, singing along to Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like,” and enjoying a victory cigar with his teammates.

The song’s title and lyrics could be interpreted as reflecting the Raiders’ sentiments toward the Chiefs, a team that has historically dominated them and the AFC West. The Chiefs had claimed the last seven division titles, with Patrick Mahomes leading the charge.

Moehrig and the Raiders’ defense posed a challenge for Mahomes, who threw for 235 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 27-of-44 passing. It marked only the second time Mahomes lost to the Raiders since becoming the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in 2018 and the second time he lost to an AFC West rival after November.

The Chiefs had an opportunity to clinch the AFC West with a victory on Christmas Day, but Moehrig and the Raiders disrupted their plans, akin to the Grinch causing chaos in Whoville.

Since the Chiefs have historically dominated both the Raiders and the AFC West, it is possible to read the song’s title and lyrics as expressing the Raiders’ feelings toward them. With Patrick Mahomes at the center of it all, the Chiefs had won seven straight division titles.
