Thompson and Curry lead the Warriors’ comeback, and Wembanyama shines in a massive Spurs win
Golden State Warriors turned around a half-time deficit against the Chicago Bulls to triumph 140-131.
It was a much-needed victory for the Warriors, who had lost their last two matches in a row.
It looked like it would be a third consecutive defeat when the Bulls took a 75-62 lead into half-time, but Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry inspired a second-half comeback.
Thompson finished the match with 30 points and six assists, while Curry scored 27 points.
“It’s nice to win a game like that where I know individually I can shoot the ball better, but we won a game collectively,” Curry said.
“We have a standard that we want to live up to for ourselves. The disappointment is you know you can play better.
“It doesn’t mean we’re going to win every game, but you just want to play better. I think we did that tonight.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr added: “I think we got off-track emotionally, spiritually, the last couple games.
“Our fans could feel it. We got booed for the first time since I’ve been here, and as I said both nights, we deserved it because our energy and our competitive spirit was not there. We found that again tonight.”
Elsewhere, the San Antonio Spurs earned a second successive victory after thrashing the Charlotte Hornets 135-99 at the Frost Bank Center in Texas.
Victor Wembanyama played 20 minutes as he continued his recovery from a sprained ankle in December, but still managed to score 26 points and claim 11 rebounds.
LaMelo Ball retuned for the Hornets after a 20-match absence with an ankle injury, but his 28 points, five assists and five steals were not enough to get his team into the game.
“It’s always good to play basketball, but not like that,” Ball said. “But it was cool to get back out there.”
Nikola Jokic helped the Denver Nuggets to a 125-113 win against the New Orleans Pelicans, scoring his 12th triple-double of the season.
The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player scored 27 points with 10 rebounds and 14 assists in total.
The Detroit Pistons lost their seventh match in a row following a narrow 112-110 loss to Houston Rockets, while the Minnesota Timberwolves earned a 116-93 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Philadelphia 76ers overcame the Sacramento Kings 112-93, with Tobias Harris getting 37 points and seven rebounds, while the Indiana Pacers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 126-108.
It was a narrow 99-96 win for Miami Heat over Orlando Magic, the LA Clippers beat the Memphis Grizzlies 128-119, and the Utah Jazz looked comfortable against the Toronto Raptors in a 145-113 victory.
