Tottenham is now £10 million away from a breakthrough with a ‘complete’ player

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in recent weeks.

Speculation linking Spurs and the 21-year-old is intensifying now the January transfer window is open.

For the most part, the speculation has been positive in terms of Tottenham’s progress towards Dragusin.

For instance, Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the Romania international has agreed terms with Spurs.

However, Sky Sport Italia have now suggested that Tottenham and Genoa are further apart in valuation than previously reported.

On Tuesday evening, Sky Sports UK reported that there was a gap of around £5million. However, the Italian outlet claims it’s actually around £10million.

Genoa have apparently set their valuation of Dragusin at €35million (just over £30million). Meanwhile, Spurs only want to pay around €23million (£20million) at most.

Furthermore, Tottenham could soon be challenged by Napoli, who are reportedly plotting a move of their own for Dragusin.

The reigning Serie A champions are apparently willing to make a player-plus-cash offer €20million (£17.4million) plus Leo Ostigard.

However, Napoli are not expected to present a higher offer, so the ball is very much in Spurs’ court in terms of upping their bid and getting over the line.

Tottenham still seem on course to sign Radu Dragusin

So, it looks as though there’s a stumbling block here. Nevertheless, this is part of negotiations. Not many bidding clubs are going to make a huge offer to begin with.

We’re still at the beginning of the transfer window. That’s not to say Spurs should be complacent, but there’s plenty of time to blow Napoli out of the water with a bid, while also not overpaying for Dragusin.

He’s certainly a good shout for Tottenham. He’s been impressing in Serie A, is young, very talented, and crucially, seems available at a time when many clubs don’t want to lose their top players.

A few years ago, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed Dragusin a “complete and dominant” centre-back. Since then, he has kicked on, and now his big career breakthrough awaits. Will it be at Spurs?
