Unsettling: Fernando Alonso comes under harsh criticism for ‘low-level’ F1 following Hungary decision, as he RELEASES HIS FURY Against….
Fernando Alonso is once again unhappy with a decision by Formula 1.
Fernando Alonso has renewed his criticism of the broadcast of certain F1 radio messages after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Aston Martin brought a considerable upgrade package to Budapest, with Alonso testing the new parts in Free Practice 1, and his team-mate Lance Stroll using the old-spec car for a back-to-back comparison.
During the session, Alonso’s engineer, Chris Cronin, asked if he had any comments that would help better understand the package, and Alonso responded, “Ha, good luck.”
It is not the first time that Alonso has criticized F1’s broadcast of radio messages, and the two-time champion is known for his strong comments, including the infamous “GP2 engine” joke to Honda at the Japanese Grand Prix. of 2015.
In the 2023 Suzuka race, he complained that Aston had left him to be “fed to the lions” after a strategy call, and Alonso called the broadcast “the classic theme, classic FOM radio, completely out of character.” context”.
Reflecting on Hungary’s message, Alonso was not satisfied.
“[On Friday] we were playing around with some setup options,” he explained to media, including RacingNews365.
“It’s not that I was unhappy or that Lance was unhappy. I think they played some comments on the radio and, as usual, it was a very low-level broadcast.”
Alonso’s career collapses due to Aston call
As for his race, Alonso started seventh, but dropped to eleventh place as Aston Martin’s continued lack of performance in warm weather conditions.
His career was undone by a strategic decision in the early stages, but Alonso felt it was easy to criticize the decision in retrospect.
“The strategy wasn’t optimal, but obviously it’s very easy to say after the race,” he said.
“The team felt it was a good decision, but it was a big surprise when we stopped on lap seven because we talked about how our car is normally hard on its tires.
“So if you stop on lap seven, there are 63 laps to do with one medium and one hard, and it was a challenge from that point.”
“There was a big price to pay if you did a stint on one set of tires, and they called me on lap seven and I knew the race was over.”
