GREAT NEWS: Veteran QB Named Favorite to Replace Vikings’ Josh Dobbs
The Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to make significant changes to their offense following their Week 13 bye, which might lead to the team abandoning starting quarterback Josh Dobbs.
Instead, Star Tribune reporter Ben Goessling feels the Vikings will stick with Nick Mullens, who has two years of experience in Kevin O’Connell’s playbook.
“If your biggest problem is that we’re turning the ball over, that means we’re not running our offense the way we want it to run.” The easiest way to get some of it back is to bring in the player with the most experience in your offense… someone who can play the offense in a manner comparable to Kirk Cousins. “A guy Kirk Cousins has praised for helping him learn the nuances of the offense,” Goessling stated on an episode of the “Access Vikings” podcast on November 30.
Dobbs impressed the NFL in his first two weeks in Minnesota, dazzling in victories against the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints before collapsing. Dobbs has lost the ball over six times in the Vikings’ last two games, both defeats, prompting O’Connell to ponder who will start the rest of the season.
“I just tend to think that if they are as irritated by inefficiency, especially turnovers, as they appear to be, Nick Mullens will end up being the safe, reliable family car in the garage that (won’t) wow anyone.” You’re not going to do it on the Autobahn. But it gets good gas mileage, has reasonable insurance prices, and has all of the safety features. I know
A day after Dobbs threw four interceptions in an embarrassing 12-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday, November 27, O’Connell doubled down on his decision that he will take a look at his options at quarterback moving forward.
