We Need Klay Back” Klay Thompson Ends Season With Scoreless Game, Warriors Eye Contract Extension.

The four-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star, guard of the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, had seen highs and lows throughout the season after he emerged from major injuries.

However, the last game of the Warriors, unfortunately marked another low for the other Splash brother, as he had failed to score a single point. Thompson was not able to score any point against the Kings and last time that happened was in his rookie season, as per CBS news.

During the game against the Kings, Thompson missed his shots as the Warriors lost to Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference play-in tournament. The Big 3 of the Warriors, consisting of 3-Point King, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, were not able to steer the Warriors to success this time.

Thompson had earlier in his career suffered major injuries and, upon his return in 2022, helped the Warriors clinch another NBA championship. During the season, he was benched in games but later found his rhythm with the team.

With the conclusion of the season, his five-year contract worth $190 million has ended. The Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has recently shared positive outlook regarding Thompson, “We need Klay back. I know he had a tough night tonight. I know I speak for everyone in the organization, we want him back. Obviously there’s business at hand and that has to be addressed. … But what Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he is, we definitely want him back.”

Thompson’s role with the Warriors franchise has been highly crucial, as he was one of the fundamental players with whom the club achieved incredible heights, winning four NBA championships.

Draymond Green, four-time NBA All-Star also shared that “he has a decision to make” and expressed confidence in the organization to do what is best for all of them. He said via CBS News, “They’ll make the best decision for the team. I don’t think there’s any scenario where Klay leaves and that’s the best scenario for this team of organization. … They did right by me. They’ve done right by Steph. They’ve done right by all of us.”

The trio have spent twelve years together as teammates, with Curry expressing confidence in their partnership and stating that he cannot see himself playing without both Thompson and Green. Curry also mentioned that he understood the ever changing landscape of the league and reiterated the winning aspect, considering himself and the league.
